Can Carlito keep winning?

After pinning Intercontinental Champion Johnny Nitro in their Mixed Tag Team Match at Saturday Night's Main Event, Carlito will try to keep his momentum going as he takes on Shelton Benjamin tonight on RAW. The winner of the match becomes the No. 1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship.

Nitro won the Championship in a Triple Threat Match at Vengeance when he pulled Carlito off of Benjamin after Carlito hit the then-Champion with a Back Cracker. With the Championship literally pulled out of his hands, Carlito understands that tonight's match is his chance to prove he's the one who should be wearing Intercontinental gold.

"Nitro has something that is very important to me. I feel like I won that Championship at Vengeance," Carlito said. "We all know the Championship belongs to Carlito."

However, getting to Nitro and another opportunity at the Championship means he has to go through Benjamin, and he's not taking tonight's match lightly.

"I have to be on my A-game. Shelton is a very athletic wrestler, but Carlito is just as athletic," he said.

His opponent disagrees, and feels the Championship he lost at Vengeance belongs around his waist—not Nitro or Carlito's.

"I'm going to go in there and beat the hell out of Carlito. I'm sick and tired of these guys running around with property that belongs to me," said Benjamin. "It took two of them to get the Championship off of me, and one-on-one nobody stands a chance against the world's greatest athlete, Shelton Benjamin."

Who will emerge as the No. 1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship? Will Carlito continue his recent string of success, or will Shelton get one step closer to becoming a three-time Intercontinental Champion? Watch RAW, live on the USA Network at 9/8 CT to find out who will emerge as the No. 1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship.
