"This week's RAW will be a memorable one that people watching will not forget. I want the fans to be talking about the match the next day. That's the only thing important to me."
That's how Mick Foley described his upcoming WrestleMania Hardcore Rematch on RAW in an exclusive interview with WWE.com.
After WrestleMania 22, Mick Foley finally achieved his WrestleMania moment, but that wasn't all. By the time the smoke had cleared and the bodies had been removed, Foley had awoken something within himself that had been locked away deep in the recesses of his mind.
This became apparent when Foley was the guest on the Cutting Edge this past week. Foley thanked Edge for helping him to obtain his WrestleMania moment. Edge belittled Mick, saying that Foley's WrestleMania moment was being beaten at his own game by the Rated R Superstar.
"I've been thinking about our match at WrestleMania every waking hour since it happened. I've searched my soul trying to figure out where I went wrong. But then I finally realized that things didn't go wrong at WrestleMania, things went very, very RIGHT," said Foley.
Last week on RAW, Foley corrected Edge and told him that his WrestleMania moment was not the match, but rather the look in Edge's eyes afterwards that showed he would never be the same again. It was the moment Edge realized that he never should have messed with Mick Foley.
The taste of Foley's blood had awoken something in him that had lain dormant up until recently. Over the years Mick has been known for being able to endure inhuman amounts of pain and seems to almost enjoy it. While many would lose heart after suffering through a match that involved barbed wire and flaming tables, Mick Foley thrives on it. Edge may have won the match, but in the process he woke a sleeping beast.
"I was more ruthless that night than I had ever been. I was ready," said Foley.
The Hardcore Legend wanted a rematch but he'll have to wait until next week for their WrestleMania Hardcore rematch.
"Even though I'm sure you don't want to go through that hell again, I DO. And I want to do it, this week on RAW," said Foley.
After what happened at WrestleMania, why would Mick Foley issue a Hardcore rematch challenge?
"I gotta tell ya, I got the itch again. It's a challenge to me to see if we can top our WrestleMania Hardcore Match, to see if we can create an even more memorable match," said Foley.
While some may consider winning matches and gaining titles to be their primary concern, that isn't the case with Mick Foley.
"You have to remember that all of my great matches have been crushing defeats. I've always said that I'm like General Lee, I'm magnificent in defeat. I'm the only guy who came out to a video montage getting their teeth kicked in and it's my claim to fame. What I said on RAW is that I question if Edge has the testicular fortitude to come back from a match like that and do it all over again," said Foley.
Foley has been a part of so many of the top moments in RAW history and he's going to do everything in his power to make sure that his Hardcore rematch with Edge solidifies its spot as another unforgettable RAW moment.
Foley's parting words to Edge let it be known that this time Foley was ready. Hopefully Edge will be as well, because if not, it could be Edge's last match.
"Next week, I will make things right. Everything will fall into place. Starting with you."
