Preview:SmackDown/ECW Elimination Chamber: Winner Gets Opportunity at World Champion at WrestleMania
In an unprecedented move, SmackDown’s Assistant General Manager Theodore Long announced that at No Way Out, a second Elimination Chamber Match would take place with the winner receiving an opportunity at the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XXIV.
Six competitors from SmackDown and ECW will enter the sadistic structure, where only one Superstar will earn the title match at the “Granddaddy of them All” in Orlando, Fla. SmackDown’s Undertaker, Batista, Finlay, The Great Khali, United States Champion MVP and ECW’s Big Daddy V will all vie to challenge the winner of Edge and Rey Mysterio’s pay-per-view encounter. The stakes at No Way Out in Las Vegas have never been higher for the Superstars involved.
Undertaker’s quest to reclaim the World Heavyweight Championship will go through No Way Out, and given The Phenom’s problems with another Chamber competitor, Big Daddy V, the obstacles for The Deadman have greatly increased. The Dominating Force in WWE will be the sole representative from ECW, and he will undoubtedly have a target on his back.
Former champion Batista told our fans that he planned on winning the Elimination Chamber and going on to WrestleMania to once again become World Champion. The Animal is on a mission, but he will have to contend with five hungry Superstars for the golden opportunity.
United States Champion MVP will be at No Way Out to try and take another step closer to fulfilling what he believes to be his destiny – capturing the World Heavyweight Championship. Will the Ballin’ Superstar find a way to win or will another Superstar step up?
Finlay will bring his brawling style to No Way Out, and maybe the Irishman will use that unorthodox approach to go all the way to WrestleMania XXIV, but he will also be staring across the ring at his rival, The Great Khali. What impact will the Punjabi giant have inside the hellish structure on Feb. 17?
