At the Royal Rumble, Rey Mysterio last eliminated Randy Orton to win the Royal Rumble Match and an opportunity to face the World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania 22. Three weeks later, Orton got the last laugh on Mysterio, defeating him at No Way Out to win Rey's WrestleMania main event.

Orton kept Mysterio grounded throughout the match, and cockily pounded the smaller opponent early in the bout. Mysterio managed to send Orton to the floor, but as Rey tried the West Coast Pop, the Legend Killer caught him and slammed him into the ringpost, injuring Rey's hand.

Orton then focused his attack on Mysterio's arm and hand. At one point, Rey managed a hurricanrana, but landed on the injured hand and was unable to capitalize. The Legend Killer then continued to further injure the weakened hand, going so far as to stomp Rey's hand into the ring steps several times.

Mysterio managed to make a comeback, but after dropping Orton into the second turnbuckle, Rey was caught going to the top rope. However, as Orton had Rey on his shoulders, Mysterio spun out of Orton's grasp and nailed the Legend Killer with a flying powerbomb. Rey then nailed the West Coast Pop, but Orton escaped the pinfall attempt.

Mysterio then went to the top rope, but Orton caught him coming off with a dropkick. The Legend Killer let Rey struggle to his feet, but Rey nailed a dropkick of his own, sending Orton into position for the 619. However, Orton avoided the 619 and grabbed Rey in a rollup. Using the ropes for leverage, Orton held Mysterio down for the three count to win the match and Rey's main event championship match at WrestleMania.
