Droz's picks for Night of Champions

Droz's picks for Night of Champions

Well, I was wrong about my picks from the last pay-per-view; I really got my butt handed to me.  I can't be totally right all the time though.  Hopefully, I will get back to my winning ways with Night of Champions, but I'm not counting on it.  Let's get started and see where it leads us.

Divas Champion Maryse vs. Mickie James
While Maryse has held this title for quite some time, I am really leaning towards Mickie James in this one.  I just feel her time is upon us and Maryse's winning ways are about to come to a standstill with Mickie being the new Divas Champion.

Unified Tag Team Champion Chris Jericho & a mystery partner vs. Ted DiBiase & Cody Rhodes
I am really missing Edge now that he has been out and away from his Unified Tag Team Champion partner Jericho.  While Jericho has left us up in the air as to who his replacement will be, I have enough faith in Jericho to believe that he will pick someone who will allow them to retain the Unified Tag Team Champion Titles.  Rhodes and DiBiase are a really good tag team and they will give Jericho and his partner a serious run for their money (or title!), but in the end I feel that Jericho's vast experience, and hopefully a strong partner, will put these two in their place and retain their gold.

ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer vs. Christian
Dreamer is coming back to Philly!!!  This is where the hardcore guru became famous with the original ECW and I would love to see him continue into the near future.  I have this bad feeling that Christian is going to steal Tommy's thunder in the City of Brotherly Love, and that has me feeling just a little bit down.  While the fans will be behind Tommy 100 percent, I think that Christian will find a way to once again become ECW Champion.  I am really hoping that I am wrong on this one though.
Women's Champion Michelle McCool vs. Melina
While Michelle McCool has held the title for a while, Melina has been coming on strong and could very well pull this one out.  I think that at this point what it really comes down to is who will make less mistakes, and at this point I am leaning towards McCool coming out on top … hehe.  She will retain the gold and head out of Philly still Women's Champion.

United States Champion Kofi Kingston vs. Big Show vs. MVP vs. Carlito vs. Jack Swagger vs. The Miz
While Kofi has been a great U.S. Champion, in this type of match, that really has no bearing on this situation.  While it's every man for himself, anyone who pins or forces someone to submit becomes champion.  With this process, it makes it quite difficult to really pick out a winner.  At this point, Big Show will have to be my No. 1 pick for winning the U.S. Title, because of sheer size and strength.  But actually, let me change that!  Maybe the young Jack Swagger has what it takes to win this gold … so that is where I am going!

Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio vs. Dolph Ziggler
I've seen a lot of things from Dolph Ziggler in his matches and in the future, I surely see him wearing gold, but for right now going against my fave, Rey Mysterio, I just don't see him pulling it out.  I feel that Rey will just be a little too quick for Ziggler to handle and therefore, I see Rey raising the title up at the end of the match, once again retaining the Intercontinental Championship.

World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy
CM Punk has definitely silenced any doubters after winning the championship a few months back.  While the way he won this title surely left a bitter taste in Jeff Hardy's mouth, vengeance is surely on his mind.  Hardy has all the tools to not only win the gold, but to go on a long title run.  I just don't think this is going to be that time.  Punk will find some way to keep the Wolrd Heavyweight Championship and dash Hardy's hopes once again.  Here is another pick that I hope that I am totally wrong on.

WWE Champion Randy Orton vs. Triple H vs. John Cena
While Orton has been WWE Champion, he seems to always find a way to keep his grasp firmly on the prize.  Now that he is facing not one, but two Superstars vying for his title, it will be that much more difficult to continue.  While both Cena and The Game are more than capable of pulling this win off, I am slightly worried that Orton will once again work his magic and be victorious in the end.  It has been quite some time since Triple H has held the championship and although he is itching for the gold, it will once again be Orton's day.

I have a really busy weekend ahead of me.  First, Saturday I will be doing an autograph session at the Wrestlefest at the Raddison Hotel in Carteret, N.J.  I am really looking forward to getting out there and seeing the fans once again.  I will be signing from 1:30 to 4:30 in the afternoon, with a few of my old WWE boys as well.

Then on Sunday, of course Night of Champions is being held in Philly, about an hour away from where I live in N.J., so I will be making that road trip, too.  It has been a long time since all three brands have been together so I am looking forward to catching up with all the guys and gals and seeing how things have been going.  This is always a good time and I look forward to this whenever I get a chance to check him out.

Please remember to keep our troops and their families in your thoughts and prayers.

Peace …

Droz
