MIAMI – In a rousing WWE Hell in a Cell Kickoff Match Sunday night, “Mr. Money in the Bank” Damien Sandow outlasted the high-flying Kofi Kingston to pick up a high-profile victory.

The intense battle – which took the place of a scheduled Intercontinental Championship bout between titleholder Curtis Axel and Big E Langston after an injured Axel was not cleared by WWE medical personnel – proved to be a perfect showcase for the self-proclaimed “Uncrowned World Champion,” who has been on an impressive tear in recent weeks.

As fans around the world watched on WWE.com, the WWE App, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo!, Google+, Pheed, Pinterest, Samsung SMART TVs, Xbox Live and the Sony Entertainment Network, Sandow took it right to his opponent, using his brute power to stomp “The Dreadlocked Dynamo” in the corner. Kofi, however, was more than game, and battled back with hard-hitting punches and kicks on WWE’s Renaissance Man.

When the action spilled to ringside, the acrobatic Wildcat hurtled the steel steps before using them as a launching pad to flip into Sandow. Back in the ring, Kofi continued to work over “The Intellectual Savior of the Masses” until his high-risk, high-reward style backfired after Sandow dodged him coming off the ropes.

Seizing control with more brutal stomps to ground the high-flyer, Sandow landed his vaunted Cubito Aequet elbow, but as “Mr. Money in the Bank” climbed up on the ropes, Kofi incredibly flipped him head-over-heels. After hitting many of his signature exciting maneuvers – including a ring-rattling Boom Drop – The Wildcat set up for Trouble in Paradise, which Sandow narrowly avoided.  Thebearer of the Money in the Bank contract then saw an opening to strike the WWE fan favorite’s knee, following with the slamming maneuver he calls “You’re Welcome” to secure the three-count.

For Kofi, it’s an impressive showing in which he came up just a little short, but showed once again that he’s a handful for any Superstar on any given night. Sandow, on the other hand, just might have picked up the signature win that will give him the necessary momentum to cash in his Money in the Bank contract and challenge for the World Heavyweight Title.
