It was first reported on WWE.com that SmackDown Superstar MVP suffered only first-degree burns during his Inferno Match with Kane at Armageddon. It now appears however that the original diagnosis may have been inaccurate.
WWE.com learned on Tuesday that the cocky newcomer remains in the burn unit of a Richmond Hospital. There, he iis receiving treatment for an infection and severe blistering of the burned area.

Joey Mercury’s face, a raw, inflamed mess with blood still seeping out from his stitches, was scarlet red around his nose and left eye with hundreds of flakes of dry blood clinging to various places on his face.

Following his fiery confrontation in with Kane in the Inferno Match at Armageddon, MVP surprisingly received only first-degree burns to his back. According to WWE medical staff, MVP was able to leave The Richmond Coliseum in this condition because the 500-degree flames engulfed the large surface area of his body rather than being concentrated on one area of his anatomy.
