Financial Risk

It's an old adage that money makes people do crazy things sometimes. Unfortunately, WWE Superstar John Bradshaw Layfield and his wife Meredith Whitney are finding this out the hard way.

New York knockout

UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Undertaker and Batista promised to have each other's backs against the combo of Mark Henry & The Great Khali on Friday night; unfortunately, thanks to a little interference, it was their fronts that got exploited.

What the hell, JBL?

UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- As Ricky Ricardo might say, JBL, you've got some 'splainin' to do to. This past Friday night on SmackDown, JBL interfered in the big tag team main event. Attacking both Batista and Undertaker as they prepared to defeat Mark Henry & The Great Khali, he allowed Henry & Khali to leave The Animal & The Phenom decimated in the middle of the ring.

The gates have opened

UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Unable to compete on SmackDown because of the injury to his head, WWE Tag Team Champion Matt Hardy made sure that he kept his "friend" and fellow champion MVP warmed up for the next time they team together. Matt informed his cocky partner that he would compete in one-on-one action against Kane -- the one man who seems to have the Ballin' Superstar's number in the ring.

Healing Hardy not yet cleared

It seems Matt Hardy must continue to suffer on the sidelines, at least for another week. After last week's Tag Team Match on SmackDown, during which Hardy sustained a skull-deep gash that required 17 stitches to close, doctors would not clear him to compete at Cyber Sunday against fellow WWE Tag Team Champion, MVP. Hardy received the same diagnosis from doctors this week, and is therefore not cleared to compete -- either alongside or against the United States Champion -- on Friday Night SmackDown.

This week, Noble thought Guerrero had taken mercy on him and he looked to get back on the winning track.

Coach vs. Foley: Officially personal

Needless to say, tasting defeat on Raw -- not to mention a filthy sock in his mouth -- did not sit well with Jonathan Coachman. (Regardless of the fact that he wasn't sitting well anyway, thanks to Hornswoggle's mini-Socko punches to the groin.) Therefore, at Friday Night SmackDown, he'll have an opportunity at earning ring retribution when he squares off against the less-than-impartial referee for that Raw bout, Mick Foley -- right there, in Uniondale, N.Y.!

Noble's novel nightmare

Jamie Noble must feel like Gulliver these days. Battling all creatures big and small, he's had a whirlwind second half of 2007, much like the titular character in Gulliver's Travels. But instead of being shipwrecked, he's been more like henpecked by Acting SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero...and for good reason, Noble says.
