The SmackDown Superstars took notice of a new and ominous athlete on Friday night as Sylvester Terkay made his WWE debut. Introduced by his corner man Elijah Burke, the 320-pound Terkay battered and mauled Matt Hardy to earn a strong victory in his first match in a WWE ring.

In the days since winning the World Heavyweight Championship at The Great American Bash, King Booker has promised WWE fans "the grandest celebration in WWE history." It is fitting then, that the gala festival for the self-proclaimed "King of the World" should take place tonight in Detroit, as SmackDown returns to the Joe Louis Arena, a venue named for a man who made 25 defenses of his heavyweight boxing title from 1937-49 and was world champion for 11 years and 10 months.

Diva Search contestants hit the hot seat

The 2006 $250,000 Diva Search Contest said farewell to Maryse Ouellet this past Monday on RAW. Although Maryse performed well in Sgt. Slaughter's Diva Boot Camp and at the Diva Dance-Off, she didn't get enough votes to remain in the competition.

J.T. grabs a seat in Diva Search Musical Chairs

Rebecca DiPietro and J.T. Tinney battled it out for supremacy in Friday Night SmackDown's game of Diva Musical Chairs. The competition between the two almost got ugly — well, the word ugly really can't be used in association with any of the Diva Search finalists — but after she was eliminated, Rebecca gave the sitting J.T. a shove, knocking her off the chair and onto the mat.

Coronations and carnage

On the heels of a controversial Great American Bash, SmackDown was home to the first-ever "Opulent Coronation" in honor of the new World Heavyweight Champion, King Booker. Though Rey Mysterio was able to disrupt King Booker's extravaganza of vanity, later in the night, Chavo Guerrero cost Mysterio the World Championship for the second time in five days.
