Recently sidelined with a torn labrum, Sheamus underwent a successful arthroscopic surgery to repair the injury on Tuesday afternoon, tweeting a characteristically upbeat series of messages before and after the procedure to keep the WWE Universe updated on his progress.

Sheamus later returned to the social networking site after the procedure was complete, tweeting another update to his followers ... and an apology to his doctor.

The injury was initially sustained during last month’s All-Stars Money in the Bank Ladder Match, when the former World Heavyweight Champion took a nasty tumble through a prone ladder and injured both his leg and shoulder in the process. Though a gruesome-looking welt on his leg caught most of the attention, Sheamus’ shoulder proved to be the more dire ailment of the two and a tear was confirmed after Raw’s international tour of South Africa.

"I’ve never in my whole life had to have surgery,” Sheamus told WWE.com after the injury was confirmed. “I’ve always worked through pain. For the first time in four years, I’m going to be out of action.”

He continued, “To say I’m devastated would be a serious understatement, but I’m determined to take this time to go home to Ireland to see my family, to see my friends, learn a different language, read a lot of books, and come back bigger, stronger and better than ever.”

As of his surgery, The Celtic Warrior has taken his first steps toward recovery. Check back with WWE.com and follow Sheamus on Twitter for the latest updates on the former WWE Champion’s condition.
