WrestleMania Reading Challenge kicks off

The national WrestleMania Reading Challenge, sponsored by the Young Adult Library Services Association, a division of the American Library Association, and World Wrestling Entertainment, with support from Mattel and DK Publishing, launches this week as part of Teen Read Week.
WWE announces YALSA’s 2009 Teens’ Top Ten

Teen readers across the country chose Paper Towns by John Green as their favorite book in the annual Teens’ Top Ten vote, sponsored by the Young Adult Library Services Association, a division of the American Library Association. Teens cast more than 11,000 votes online between Aug. 24 and Sept. 18. WWE.com’s official list announcement is part of the kick-off events for Teen Read Week, October 18-24.

The U.K.'s WrestleMania Reading Challenge kicks off

Upon the launch of the annual WrestleMania Reading Challenge campaign this week, World Wrestling Entertainment and The National Literacy Trust announced the results of a poll which reveals that only 10 percent of British children younger than 16 do not enjoy reading books as a form of entertainment.

Sgt. Slaughter accepts Commander-In-Chief’s Gold Medal of Merit

On behalf of World Wrestling Entertainment, WWE Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter accepted the Commander-In-Chief’s Gold Medal of Merit from the Veterans of Foreign Wars at the 110th national convention in Phoenix. WWE regularly visits Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., as well as performing annual holiday Tribute to the Troops shows in Iraq and Afghanistan.
