STAMFORD, Conn. — When Jake Ellis found out that one of the prizes in this year’s Superstars for Sandy Relief auction was the opportunity to pitch an idea to WWE’s Executive Vice-President of Creative, Stephanie McMahon, he knew it was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.

“It stuck out to me,” Ellis said. “I’m always thinking of ideas I’d like to see on television, and to have a chance to maybe make one of those happen is great.”

Today, the moment of truth finally came, and Ellis sat down to pitch his idea at WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Conn. A longtime WWE fan from Houston, Ellis described himself as “pretty practical,” and said that making the bid was slightly out of character. It was with his wife’s encouragement that he decided to place the winning bid.

“I asked Stephanie a lot of questions and pitched a couple storylines to her, and I was happy that they were pretty well received and she seemed excited about it,” he said of the hour-long meeting.

The EVP of Creative even tweeted her excitement about the meeting beforehand:

Ellis’ experience didn’t end with the pitch, as he was then introduced to Triple H as well as given a VIP tour of the WWE offices by WWE Hall of Famer Howard Finkel. While getting onto the elevator, he even experienced a surprise encounter that would surely make many Superstars — let alone a member of the WWE Universe — nervous: bumping into the WWE Chairman himself, Mr. McMahon.

“My heartbeat sped up a little,” he quipped about the chance meeting with the WWE CEO.

Like most of the WWE Universe, Ellis had only seen peeks of WWE Headquarters on TV prior to arriving at the building. After receiving a full tour, he joyfully called it “WWE’s version of Disneyland.”

Although he was initially nervous about placing the bid, Ellis said he was glad that he did, especially considering the money went to charity. The Superstars for Sandy Relief auction, held WrestleMania week, raised more than $500,000 to support Hurricane Sandy relief efforts in New York and New Jersey.

“This is a great thing to not only donate to a wonderful cause, but to get such a great experience afterwards,” he said. “It’s been above and beyond what I expected.”
