After a noble fight, and an unfortunate conflict with a fellow tribe mate, WWE Diva Ashley was eliminated on tonight’s episode of Survivor: China on CBS.
Tensions arose early on day four at the Zhan Hu tribe’s camp. Self-appointed leader, Dave, bossed around his fellow castaways, who were hungry, forcing them to build a fire pit before eating rice.
“We got the flint last night at Tribal Council, and we haven’t even attempted to make a fire, and we’re starving,” Ashley explained. “It just seems like we take the longest route possible to make something happen. I’m losing faith rapidly.”
Ashley urged Dave to get a fire started before the rain started to fall, but Dave refused, antagonizing Ashley.
“How many fires have you lit, sweetheart?” he asked her.
“I don’t want to fight with Ashley. If she wants a fight I can give her a fight. The rest of the team is great. Ashley…” Dave secretly said, shaking his head.
The Fei Long tribe won the Reward Challenge, earning fishing gear. Ashley put up a strong fight for Zhan Hu in the physical, wet, dirty challenge, easily taking down Fei Long’s Leslie and continuously tackling Jean-Robert, who is three times Ashley’s size.
When Zhan Hu returned to camp after the Reward Challenge, they were disappointed to find everything drenched from the rains.
“It looks like a natural disaster hit our camp,” Ashley said.
But the tribe quickly went to work, and when Ashley asked Dave for direction, he began talking down to her.
“You don’t have to be mean to me,” Ashley told Dave. “You’re giving me an attitude.”
Others on the Zhan Hu tribe noticed Dave’s mistreatment of the Diva.
“I do think that Dave is wrong in the way that he talks down to Ashley, telling her what to do. You know, you can’t boss adults around, not really too much, without pissing them off,” Sherea said.
A strong Fei Long won the Immunity Challenge. Dave was noticeably weak during the physical challenge. Back at Zhan Hu’s camp, Dave apologized to his tribe for his lack of power.
“I take full responsibility for the challenge today. At the same time, the last six days haven’t been about one challenge, it’s been about day in and day out in camp and how you contribute and what your attitude is like,” Dave said, admitting he felt confident he wouldn’t be voted out.
Ashley secretly told the cameras she knew Dave would be voting for her. She decided not to confront her tribe, but instead called Dave out on his bad behavior at Tribal Council.
“Dave and I kind of butt heads, sort of. Our personalities don’t mesh well. But I respect him for a leader and when I have questions I’ll ask him, even if I’m not supposed to,” Ashley explained to host Jeff Probst.
Ashley pointed out that others on the tribe have problems with Dave’s leadership skills (or lack thereof).
“That’s what he does. He goes off on these rants, and talks down to you and treats you like a child,” Ashley said.
“Sometimes the way you phrase your demands, it might intimidate people,” said Jamie, Ashley’s friend and Zhan Hu tribe mate.
Sherea also pointed out that Dave had not brought the tribe together for group discussions.
After what Probst called a session of “tribe therapy,” Zhan Hu began their vote. Sadly, Ashley was the second castaway voted off Survivor: China, in a 7 to 1 vote over Dave.
Probst extinguished her torch, and Ashley pointed to Dave and said: “I’ll see you soon.” Sherea was noticeably crying.
After her departure, Ashley offered few thoughts, including some wise words for the Zhan Hu tribe leader, Dave.
“I think I got voted out because of a personal conflict with our leader, and Dave is going to show them the reason that he shouldn’t be in control. And I guarantee you I’ll see him on the flip side way sooner than he imagines,” Ashley warned.
“Dave – if I had one word to describe him, he’d be a tool," Ashley quipped. "Because that is the perfect word for him, he’s a tool."
