Starting December 23, WWE.com begins counting down its Top 10 Stories of 2006, each day revealing a different story that would main-event any Internet list. In the meantime, the WWE fans have been sending in the moments they think should be on the list. Here is a small sampling of what the WWE fans are saying:

Henry Gomes
Being a proud resident of Toronto, Canada, the best moment of 2006 was when our hometown hero Edge finally won the WWE Championship. After nearly 7 years of putting his body on the line to entertain us fans, it was great to see him finally on top!

1) Edge banking in at NYR and becoming the new WWE Champion
2) Trish Stratus announcing her retirement and winning the title in her final match
3) Booker T becomes King Booker

5) D-Generation X re-unites
6) Batista relinquishes the World Heavyweight Championship
7) Mick Foley turns on Tommy Dreamer and aligns with Edge
8) Mickie kidnaps Ashley
9) Paul Heyman gives the 3 count to RVD and allows RVD to defeat Cena for the WWE Championship at ECW: One Night Stand 2

I think that John Cena vs. Edge in the TLC Match at Unforgiven should be right up there because so much was on the line and it was a huge disadvantage to Cena and he prevailed in great match with a great rivalry.

#1 - The second generation of D-Generation X. Quite simply put, this was absolutely huge. One of the greatest factions in not only WWE, but sports entertainment history reformed in 2006 to a massive reception. From the stunts they pulled (they spray-painted WWE Headquarters!!!) to the odds they overcame (continually turning back the Spirit Squad), and even forcing the ever-bold Mr. McMahon to retreat - DX has not lost a step, and looks to be strongger than ever.

Marty Kelman
I think the DX reunion and return of Jeff Hardy are two main points. However possibly the biggest thing this year was the rebirth of ECW. One Night Stand was amazing; the reception Cena got in the main event, never seen anything like that. He'd throw his shirt into the crowd and they'd throw it back at him! Most underrated star of the year...CM Punk baby!

I think that there were two moments that impacted WWE this year, and they both happened on the same night: WrestleMania 22. One of the biggest stories in professional wrestling was Rey Mysterio winning the World Heavyweight Championship. No one ever expected Rey to win that match. The odds were strongly against him in a Triple Threat Match, but the 5'6" Mysterio overcame those odds and pulled one of the biggest upset surprises in WWE history. The other moment was Shawn Michaels leaping off of the 25 foot ladder on top of Mr. McMahon. This was the moment that ignited the reformation of D-Generation X. Watching Michaels give Mr. McMahon the DX crotch chop and dropping the elbow down his throat told WWE fans that someday, DX would return. Weeks later, DX was back together still raising hell for all of WWE.

My favourite wrestling moment was when Edge, the Rated-R Superstar, speared Mick Foley through a flaming table in the Hardcore Match at Wrestlemania 22. The whole match was just amazing.
