Harley Race's wrestling camp gets the ball rolling

In an organization such as World Wrestling Entertainment, one never knows where the next grouping of future Superstars will come from. But, if you ask WWE Hall of Famer and mat legend Harley Race, he'll be the first to raise his hand and tell you that he'll do his best to oblige. From Sept. 15 to 19, Race's World League Wrestling will hold its annual Pro-Wrestling/NOAH Training Camp at its headquarters in Eldon, Mo., and the eight-time World Champion is ready to roll.

"We've got three different classes we conduct involving athletes who just want to get involved, those who are about halfway there, and a class for those who are close enough that we can put the final touches on them so they can make it into the big show," said Race.

Two current Superstars who cut their teeth with Race at a previous camp before joining WWE are one-half of the World Tag Team Champions, Ted DiBiase, and referee John Cone.

At the camp, one can expect to receive guidance and instruction of the highest order possible on all facets of learning the art of wrestling. Legendary Superstar and current WWE producer Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat will be on hand to look at the crop of individuals at the camp this year, and Race cannot be more pleased.

"Ricky Steamboat was one of the premier talents to ever be in this business, and was one of the very best to have ever stepped in the ring," he said. "We're delighted to have Ricky come to our camp. He's showing us a world of respect by being with us."

Steamboat will have his clipboard, his pencil and, most important, his keen eye ready.

"It's going to be interesting to see the Japanese group [NOAH], there," Steamboat told WWE.com. "It will also be inspiring to know that there's going to be a good group of folks that will be coming for this camp. What I'm going to be looking for is that diamond in the rough, that person who can add and contribute to our company that seems to be coachable. Hopefully, I'll leave there with that possibility becoming a reality."

The Harley Race Pro-Wrestling Camp is one of the most anticipated affairs on the annual wrestling calendar. For further information and registration, log on to harleyrace.com
