Ashley the next Playboy cover girl – Part 2
While SmackDown Diva Ashley can’t reveal any of the juicy details about her upcoming Playboy photo shoot, she can divulge something the WWE fans will be pleased to know. Her tattoos and piercings will not be airbrushed out of the shots, and the whole tone of the shoot will reflect her edgy, sexy look.
“They’re totally letting me be myself, which I thought was just fantastic,” Ashley told WWE.com.
Ashley said that when she and WWE Chairman Vince McMahon met with Playboy, she was hoping they’d let her pictorial reflect the Ashley WWE fans know and love. She was elated when she heard she wouldn’t have to change her look for the magazine.
“We were in the middle of a meeting, so I couldn’t really let it out, but I was thrilled. I was on the edge of my seat like, ‘Yes! I can’t believe it! That’s awesome!’ ” Ashley exclaimed.
“I’ve done Maxim before and they’ve airbrushed out my piercings and tattoos. It’s kind of like that was me when I was 16. People say, ‘That looks like you when you were a kid!’ It’s so funny!” she laughed.
“It’s just thrilling to me that they’re willing to go that far out on a limb for me, to be able to be myself. It’s truly an honor.”
Ashley has already spoken with the shoot’s photographer, Arny Freytag, who shot the Playboy pictorials of Raw Divas Candice Michelle and Torrie Wilson.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better concept. I was floored that the photographer and I had the same ideas. I was literally going to say, word-for-word, half of the things he said to me,” she said.
“I can’t believe how much everyone is on the same page – between Playboy, Vince, WWE, me – about what they want this shoot to be like, how different it’s going to be.”
While Ashley’s pictorial will be atypical for Playboy, WWE fans won’t be disappointed by her hot, edgy look.
“Normally Playboy wants their girls looking, obviously, beautiful. Not that they’re not going to make me look beautiful… But Playboy likes the pillows and the pearls – which is cool,” Ashley said.
“I’ve done shoots like that a million times, but that’s the point – it’s been done a million times. They’re totally behind doing it a different way, and it’s so exciting to me,” she continued.
Ashley said Playboy thinks her pictorial will attract a new audience, and Playboy readers will be attracted to WWE after seeing the magazine. Since she will have a hand in picking out her pictorial’s photos, she’s confident everyone will be pleased.
“I shot the cover of FLEX and Femme Fatale, and a six-page spread in Maxim, and just little things I’ve done for other magazines. I’ve never been able to even see the photos before they’re published – never! And I always want to,” Ashley confessed.
“I think it’s such a great idea to have the model involved in the picture-choosing because you know your face, you know your body, you know when you look best. Sometimes it’s nice to have that input, even if it’s just like a joint effort. I’m so thrilled over that,” she smiled.
“It’s still going to be the same old me in Playboy… Not the same OLD me, but the same me!” she laughed. “I think the WWE fans will be pleasantly surprised.”
