WWE World Heavyweight Championship - Yokozuna

April 04, 1993 - April 04, 1993

Bret Hart faced his biggest challenge at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, Nev. The "Excellence of Execution" had to go up against the mammoth Yokozuna, who was managed by Mr. Fuji. The former sumo wrestler outweighed Hart by more than a couple hundred pounds, but Hart started out wrestling a smart match, trying keep Yokozuna off balance and using his quickness and speed to stay away from any power moves. Hart undid one of the turnbuckle pads, exposing the steel, and then smashed Yokozuna's head into it. Hart was then able to apply the Sharpshooter on Yokozuna's massive legs, but Mr. Fuji threw salt in Hart's eyes, allowing Yokozuna to roll up Hart for the pin.

Yokozuna's first WWE Championship reign would go on to last only a matter of minutes. Immediately following the victory, Mr Fuji - Yokozuna's manager - challenged Hulk Hogan to a match. Yokozuna lost.
