No. 9: Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon (1995)

Matches fought over the Intercontinental Championship, which luminaries such as Shawn Michaels and Cody Rhodes have hailed as the locker room workhorses’ title, have a tradition of stealing the show at SummerSlam. Supporting this theory was the SummerSlam 1995 Ladder Match between Intercontinental Champion Michaels and Razor Ramon. A rematch of their highly acclaimed WrestleMania X Ladder Match from a year-and-a-half earlier, the return bout was every bit as captivating as the original, even if it receives only a slice of the adulation.

HBK and “The Bad Guy” broke new ground with their WrestleMania bout, and they only added to their legacy of innovation at SummerSlam. Just as he had done on The Grandest Stage of Them All, Michaels leaped high off the ladder with a splash, only at SummerSlam, Ramon dodged the bullet and Michaels dropped hard onto the bare canvas. Later in the match, Michaels rebounded with a huge moonsault off the ladder. HBK went on to secure the title and win the bout.
