Cleveland Cavaliers celebrate 2016 NBA Championship with custom WWE World Heavyweight Title

Led by WWE fan LeBron James, the Cleveland Cavaliers clinched the first NBA Championship in franchise history and the first sports title for any Cleveland pro franchise in 52 years with a 93-89 win over the Golden State Warriors in Game 7. Triple H congratulated the champions by sending a custom version of the WWE World Heavyweight Title, featuring the Cavs’ logo.

The Cavs became the first NBA team to overcome a three games to one deficit in the Finals, stunning the Warriors in three consecutive games. And Kevin Love channeled “Stone Cold” Steve Austin after the game, wearing an “Austin 3:16” shirt during the celebration and post-game interviews.

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair and Cleveland natives Dolph Ziggler and The Miz cheered on the Cavs as they defeated the Warriors, who won 73 regular season games and broke a record previously held by Michael Jordan’s 1995-96 Chicago Bulls.

It’s the third NBA Championship for James, who won two with the Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013. James has appeared in six straight NBA Finals, and he can be credited with inspiring more pro sports franchises to celebrate their championship wins with custom WWE Titles.

After winning the title in 2013, James told The Rock that he’d love a replica WWE World Heavyweight Championship to commemorate it. The Great One willingly obliged, and WWE has since sent titles to the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Denver Broncos and the Kansas City Royals, among others.

Kevin Love showed off the custom Cavaliers title on Instagram, along with the Smoking Skull version he passed around in the locker room after the game.
