Roman Reigns def. Braun Strowman

MILWAUKEE — Roman Reigns has had his doubters for a long time. But after seeing him roaring from a near-insurmountable deficit to hand Braun Strowman his first-ever singles pinfall loss at WWE Fastlane, it’s fair to ask if you believe in him now.

Reigns was subjected to otherworldly punishment at the hands of The Monster Among Men at WWE Fastlane, which is only fitting given Strowman’s insatiable appetite for competition over the last several months. Despite tweaking his knee, Braun had his way with the former WWE Champion, not only raining blows upon his body and thwarting seemingly nearly every move he threw, but also administering each of his signature maneuvers: The Reverse Chokeslam, the Yokosuka Cutter and, finally, a Running Powerslam through the commentary table.

Nobody would have blamed Reigns for just calling it a day after that, but Reigns almost immediately roared back, executing an out-of-nowhere Spear that brought Braun’s momentum to a screeching halt. The Gift of Destruction managed to keep The Big Dog at bay, but he clearly sensed Reigns was on the verge of a comeback. So he went big, ascending to the top rope for a splash that missed its mark and proved to be Braun’s undoing.

As The Monster Among Men staggered to his feet, Reigns rose up and hit a second Spear, felling Strowman for the historic three count that nobody in the WWE Universe could believe. Reigns, of course, was less surprised. He’s been saying it for years, people: He can, and he will.
